How to prepare an EV before a long trip

Preparation is boring on purpose. The planner can rank chargers. It cannot charge your 12V, log you into Statiq, or pack the CCS2 cable you still need at a hotel.

The night before

Charge to 85–95% if the trip starts in the morning. Update operator apps while you still have Wi-Fi. Confirm the vehicle preset on EV Grids matches the car you will drive — connector and Wh/km especially. Set reserve 20% (higher in ghats or monsoon) and search threshold above reserve.

Open the corridor page if one exists, then Plan now. Select a backup at every stop. Download or save the itinerary so stop names survive patchy data. Check tyre pressures for highway load. If you use a home charger, unplug in time to precondition the cabin without flattening the 12V.

What EV Grids will not do for you

We do not verify that a plaza is open at 5 a.m. We do not know if your RFID is blocked. We do not pack a Type 2 cable for destination AC. We do not claim first-hand testing of every corridor.

If a preset range looks wrong, report it via contact or Feedback (vehicle data). If a pin is wrong, use wrong charger. Then drive the plan, not a parallel guess in another maps app that never received your waypoints.
