How highway speed affects EV range

Advertised range is not measured at NH44 cruising speed. EV Grids does not invent a km/h table for your car. It uses the Wh/km you (or the preset) provide. Speed is one of the reasons that number should be higher than the brochure implies.

What the planner actually uses

SOC along the route is Wh/km × distance on the driving polyline, starting from your start SOC, looking for chargers at the search threshold, and trying not to arrive below reserve. There is no hidden “speed slider.” If you drive faster than the trip that calibrated your Wh/km, you will arrive lower than the stop card.

Presets include a typical highway Wh/km. Override it after a real trip. A default real-world factor of about 0.85 versus rated range exists in configuration as a planning margin when you have not set efficiency yourself — still not a speed model.

Practical adjustments

If you know you cruise at 110 km/h with AC in May, raise Wh/km before you plan a 500 km day. Raise reserve from 20% to 25% if you have no backup culture yet. Do not lower search threshold to “make it to the next city” — that is how people skip the last dense plaza.
