How to estimate real-world highway range

Real-world highway range is not a second ARAI number. It is usable energy divided by your highway Wh/km, minus the reserve you refuse to spend. EV Grids will not fabricate a test-loop figure for your car.

A working method

Note start SOC, end SOC, and kilometres on a highway day with climate on. Convert the SOC delta to kWh if you know pack size, then Wh/km = Wh used ÷ km. Enter that Wh/km on EV Grids. Comfortable range before reserve is then roughly (start SOC − reserve) × pack energy / Wh/km.

The planner preset’s rated kilometres are a filter default. A configuration factor of about 0.85 versus rated range is a planning margin when you have not set Wh/km — still not your car. Vehicle pages that have editorial notes may show a typical highway budget used in copy; that is still a planning illustration.

What breaks the estimate

Speed, temperature, HVAC, hills, payload, and wind. Monsoon AC can be a different car than January. Do not average city and highway Wh/km and then plan NH44.

After two planned trips, compare stop-card arrival % with the dashboard. If you always arrive 8% lower, raise Wh/km. That loop is the original data EV Grids cannot scrape from a brochure.
