CCS2 vs Type 2 in India — what to filter on a highway trip

Connector confusion wastes hours. Highway moving is CCS2 DC for almost every recent Indian EV. Type 2 AC is overnight or a long lunch. Mixing them up is how a ‘charging stop’ becomes a three-hour mall nap.

CCS2 is the highway default

Tata, Mahindra, Hyundai, Kia, MG, BYD, and most new cars take CCS2 for DC. EV Grids vehicle presets filter toward that. A CHAdeMO-only leftover on a listing is the wrong stop for a new CCS2 car.

Type 2 is not a 20-minute plan

7–22 kW AC is for hotels, offices, and some malls. It can save a trip if DC failed and you have hours. It cannot replace a NH44 lunch stop unless you like waiting.

Tesla and adapters

Know your inlet before you trust a Supercharger-minded rumour on an Indian NH. Filter the planner to what is on the car today. Vehicle pages note connector assumptions in the preset.

Minimum kW

Set a floor (for example 50 kW) if you refuse slow DC. You will see fewer pins. That is the point. Pair with the charging guide for session-time expectations.

Look at the inlet before you queue

If the only free gun is CHAdeMO and your car is CCS2, you are not charging. Walk the stall. EV Grids filters reduce this; they do not eliminate a mis-tagged listing. That is why backups exist.
