Kerala ghats and monsoon — Kochi hill routes

Kerala combines coastal humidity with sharp ghats toward Munnar and the Tamil Nadu border. Monsoon (June–September) adds 10–20% consumption and slower traffic — plan like a ghat trip even on NH66.

Kochi as your base

Leave Kochi at 85–95% SOC before Munnar or the NH544 climb toward Coimbatore. City DC is denser than hill stations — do not rely on destination charging in Munnar without confirming.

Chennai → Kochi is a full-day corridor — plan one mid-route DC stop and a backup at Salem or Coimbatore approaches.

Monsoon habits

Enable Adjust for hills & weather and bump reserve SOC to 30% on Western Ghats legs during rain.

Landslides and waterlogging can delay you — if arrival SOC drops below 30% on the planner, stop on the plains side.

Coastal vs hill legs

Kochi → Trivandrum on NH66 is mostly flat; Kochi → Munnar is the consumption stress test. Plan them as separate trips with different reserve settings.
